tra- tra- tra- training

Today I had my first training session with the Trinity ladies and oh my god I thought I would never make it to the pitch never mind to have a training session after it...ha. Not only did I have to get the bus from Griffith I didn't know if I was going in the right direction or not. When i meet the rest of the football girl I was informed that we were going to walk another twenty to twenty five minutes to the actual football pitch. At this stage I was absolutly starving as I hadn't eaten after my long day in college...=[

Training was fun and I meet alot of new people  but of course me being me can only remember about four names but hopefully I will remember more the next time. My new trainer is very nice and takes ladies GAA very seriously. I'm glad that he has such an interest in ladies football as we need as many people as possible folllowing us and our sport. I hope that I am able to continue playing with Trinity and the distance to training will not be a problem. =]

In hope of finding a team

As I previously mentioned that my College does not have a ladies gaelic football team, I decided to get up off my ass andtry to persuade another college to let me play football with them. So off I went to the bus stop and  fifteen minutes later I was standing outside Trinity College in hope that I would be allowed to play my favourite sport with them.

Of course they wanted my details , the usual name...number...address..club...etc. before I even remotely get started. But as soon as they heard I was from Kerry they didnt seem to bat an eyelid (just kidding):P Thankfully they decided to let me play with the Trinity ladies football team and I have my first training session tomorrow at half six. =]

I will be keeping you posted with how me and my journey to Trinity goes, I hope you keep dropping by in order to find out how i get on :)
Laters...=]

Welcome to my blog Griff Girls In Shorts.

My name is Aishling Clifford and I am a first year student in Griffith College Dublin. Over the next few months I will be regularly updating my blog in hope you that you will all enjoy it and realise that GAA is not just for those hairy, awkward species we call men..

As a born and raised Country girl Gaelic Football has always played a big part of my life. For as long as i can remember I have always been involved in sport whether it be football, basketball or even the odd bit of soccer. As the years have gone by and i have got..urm..? taller... it has become very clear to me that ladies sport in general and GAA especially is not seen to be very popular.

I have decided to write this blog to inform others about ladies sport but especially and mainly about ladies gaelic football.
I feel that ladies gaelic football as a sport is not recognised enough, especially in my College in Dublin. As a student in Griffith College I am unable to continue playing my favourite sport here as we do not have a team, as a result I have had to contact another college to play. I'm sure that I am not the only student that has have had to do this and hope to find others who are in the same boat as I am

In the next couple of weeks I will be blogging about my love of sport,about ladies GAA  I  will try to make my blog as interesting and exciting and as enjoyable as I possibly can and hope you will visit on a regular basis :)
